Towards HIV Treatment on Demand for All from HealthGAP notes that fewer than one out of 10 people living with HIV worldwide live in a country where immediate antiretroviral therapy access is current policy for all people. (See map) The report calls for every country to adopt and implement HIV treatment access policies based on WHO guidelines, adoption of community based models of care, increased funding, use of intellectual property flexibilities, and new efforts to combat stigma and discrimination.
Response to WHO HIV Treatment Guidelines from ITPC, ARASA and APN+ welcomes new WHO guidelines and discusses three areas that are barriers to progress and need urgent attention: community-led treatment education scale up; access to affordable medicines for people living in middle income countries; and availability of routine viral load monitoring.
